About KCDP

GREG WRIGHT
May 6, 1962 - June 19, 2012

For many of us Greg Wright is the reason we started drumming. His passion for drumming of all kinds was infectious. Greg was both a natural drummer and teacher. He played in countless Keweenaw based bands (most recently Raven Congress, Swingcats, and Uptown Swingsters) and taught private and group drum lessons. It is thanks to Greg that we have the Keweeenaw Community Drum Project which he cofounded with drum maker Bill Anderson of Blue Heron Drums in 2011, one of his final legacies. You continue to inspire and teach us Greg...we honor and miss you!

KCDP - Finding our rhythm...

The Keweenaw Community Drum Project is an eclectic and dynamic group of folks who want to share the joy and benefits of hand drumming with others. Everyone is welcome to participate. We are a beginning level group, with most players having less than 5 years of drumming experience.

You may have heard us drumming for the runners at the Canal Run or Horsetail Scramble, at MTU's International Night, at Copper Island Beach Club's annual solstice party, at local gallery openings, or another event.
